What are D&D Beyond Drops?

D&D Beyond Drops is a subscription perk program first introduced in May 2026, giving Hero and Master tier subscribers free evergreen content. Drops land on the first Thursday of each month with new content like spells, feats, and backgrounds for players, plus maps, monsters, magic items and adventures for DMs.

Unlike D&D Beyond’s typical limited-time bonus content, Drops are meant to be permanent: you keep everything released to date and everything that comes after, for as long as you remain subscribed. Wizards of the Coast has said the format was a direct response to subscriber requests and is meant to be community-driven, with regular surveys shaping future content. Drops can also be shared among D&D Beyond users in the same way that digital books can.

What’s New for DMs in the August Drop?

The headline feature is a sewer dungeon broken across three separate maps (an entrance, a set of inner chambers and a boss chamber leading to the exit), which can also be combined into a single lair. There are also 13 sewer-themed digital stickers, plus an urban map entitled “Neighborhood along City Walls.”

The Drop also includes a new monster family that’s perfect for the sewers: the Sovereign Oozes. These consists of three slimy threats that can be combined to create more powerful variants. They are:

  • Sovereign Ooze Vassal (CR 4): A discarded magical experiment brought to life by a stray spark.
  • Sovereign Ooze Lord (CR 9): The result of two Ooze Vassals merging, with sharper intelligence and its own agenda.
  • Sovereign Ooze Monarch (CR 17): Born from two Ooze Lords combining and possessing a high degree of intelligence.

What’s New for Players in the August Drop?

Players aren’t left in the muck either. Five new magic items headline the Drop:

There’s also a new feat, Fey Tormentor, which builds on the Fey Pact line by giving characters new ways to confound and curse enemies. Rounding things out are also four vermin-themed character sheet backdrops, for anyone who wants their sheet to match a sewer crawl.

What else is included in the August D&D Beyond Drop?

This month also marks the first rules errata pass for Drops content. Highlights include:

  • Fey Pact: Honeyed Words now limits its reroll to once per Long Rest after a success.
  • Infernal Pact: Infernal Resistance now offers a choice between Fire or Poison, while Infernal Sight’s Darkvision is now explicitly unimpeded by magical Darkness.
  • Shifting Combatant: Domino Strike’s save DC and damage have been clarified and adjusted.
  • Astral Flood: Rewritten for clarity, now deals half damage on a save, drops its Blinded-condition distance restriction and joins the Warlock spell list.
  • Tortoise Shell and Void Star both receive wording fixes to tighten up how and when their effects apply.
  • Salubrious Armor has a reworded description clarifying its AC bonus and healing trigger.
  • Angel of Slaughter and Angel of Vengeance both swap their old Disguise Self spellcasting option for a restricted form of Shapechange.

Final thoughts

Between the new ooze bosses, a modular dungeon built for sewer crawls, and the first real errata pass for Drops content, this is one of the more mechanically ambitious Drops yet – and a sign the team is listening when players flag issues.

If you’re a Hero or Master Tier subscriber, you can grab the August Drop for yourself now on D&D Beyond.
